works closed along with the railway sidings used by the works. The textile mill had become Coultards but by the mid 1970s Coultards had closed and the site became unused. In the early 1980s the Dunmail Park site became part of an Enterprise zone and was purchased by J Dixon & Son Ltd. With a vision to create the regions first indoor and out of town shopping centre works began in 1986 to transform the site and in 1988 Dunmail Park Shopping Centre opened to great acclaim. The vision did not end at the opening of the centre and within six years a petrol station, six additional retail units and unit B which was originally Edgar’s car show room had opened.
Dunmail History The new millennium brought further additions to Dunmail Park with the opening of an independent six screen multiplex cinema, four new units, restaurant and a new car show room for the site. The latest addition was the opening of an Asda store in October 2010.
